Detailed information concerning each of these funds may be obtained from the College Foundation of North Carolina.

In general, you must reapply for State of North Carolina Aid programs every academic year. Students must demonstrate continued eligibility.


Fund Eligible Students
Dr. Wade H. Atkinson Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time, incoming first-year students who are residents of Johnston County, NC.  File a FAFSA.

Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need to full-time, incoming first-year students.  Applications should be made through the Aubrey Lee Brooks Foundation and applicants must file a FAFSA.  See the CFNC website for additional details.

Thomas Holmes Carrow Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time, incoming first-year students who attended East or West Carteret High School for four years.  File a FAFSA.

Dr. A.P. & Frances Dickson Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time, incoming first-year students who are residents of Hoke County, NC.  File a FAFSA.

Escheats Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time, undergraduate students who are NC residents.  File a FAFSA.

Future Teachers Of NC Scholarship/Loan
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to full-time undegraduate students enrolled in a teacher education program.  Must have a 3.0 GPA and must commit to teach full-time in the areas of math, science, special education, or English as a Second Language in NC public schools for 3 years upon graduation.  See CFNC website for additional details and application.

Golden Leaf Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of finacial need to undergraduate students, enrolled full-time, who are enrolled at a participating NC public university.  See CFNC website for additional information.  File a FAFSA.

Jagannthan Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to undegraduate students who are NC residents and who are enrolled full-time.  File a FAFSA.

James M. Johnston Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time, incoming first-year students.  Scholarship restricted to certain majors.  File a FAFSA.

James Lee Love Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to undegraduate students who are NC residents and who are enrolled full-time.  File a FAFSA.

NC Education Lottery Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students who are NC residents and who are enrolled at least half-time. Must file a FAFSA.

NC Health, Science And Math Loan
Awarded on the basis of financial need to NC residents, enrolled full-time, who are majoring in health, science or mathematics.  See CFNC website for additional details and application.

NC Student Incentive Grant
Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students who are NC residents and who are enrolled full-time.

NC Masters Nurse Scholars Program
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to graduate Nursing majors who are NC residents.  See the CFNC website for additional details and application. 

NC Nurse Scholars Program 
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to undergraduate Nursing majors who are NC residents.  See the CFNC website for additional details and application. 

NC Principal Fellows Program
Awarded to graduate students who are enrolled full-time and who are NC residents, and who are studying School Administration.  See CFNC website for additional information.

NC Prospective Teachers Scholarship Loan Program
Awarded to undergraduate students, who are NC residents, who are majoring in Education.  See CFNC website for additional details.

NC Student Aid Grant
Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time undergraduate students who are NC residents.

NC Teaching Fellows Program
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to incoming first-year undergraduate students with a major leading to teacher licensure.  See CFNC website for additional details.

Nurse Education Scholarship Loan Program
Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students who are NC residents and who are majoring in Nursing.  Preference is given to juniors and seniors.  Although this is a state program, applications are made to the UNCG Financial Aid Office.  Please contact the Financial Aid Office for an application.  Applications are due in late summer.

Nurse Educators Of Tomorrow
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to graduate students in the field of Nursing.  See the CFNC website for additional details and application.

Incentive For Native Americans 
Awarded to Native American students who are enrolled full-time.  Contact the Financial Aid Office for list of additional requirements and application.

Penn Family Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students who are residents of Rockingham County.

Physical Education-Coaching Scholarship/Loan
Awarded to juniors and/or seniors pursuing a degree to become teachers and a head coach or assistant coach in NC public schools.  See CFNC website for additional information.

C.M. & M.D. Suther Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time undergraduate students who are NC residents.  File a FAFSA.

Teacher Assistant Scholarship Loan Program
Provides funding for full-time teacher assistants seeking licensure to teach.  See CFCN website for additional information.

UNC Need-Based Grant 
Awarded on the basis of financial need to eligible students attending one of the 16 campuses of the University of North Carolina.  File a FAFSA.
